What in the world is this tape recorder?

Postby Dualflip » Wed Jan 12, 2011 3:38 am

Hey guys, im sure more than one of you knows what the hell is this thing, I have no clue as to what it is since its far before my era. Its a tape recorder given to me by my late grandma, when she was younger she used to be a lot on the road and she used to document whatever she needed to document so she had quite a tape recorder collection, she gave me everything around 5 years ago, among those things there are several UHERs, and stuff like that, but theres this "Minifon" golden "thing" which cames with its carrying case and a microphone., i believe i still have the cassette somewhere, it looks like an oversized 80s cassette, but the tape is wide in the open.... Really weird looking thing, anyway some pics:

Is there a label as "made in Japan" or "USA" or wherever?

Best,

Dear Jose,
How are you mate, I am about to set up a distribution deal with a Mexican Pro Audio Co.
Yes it should say "Made in Germany" but this lovely little machine was sold out under many other names, as well as Mini-fon one was Mohark, and another was Monocord or something.

It was brought out to compete with the Fi-Cord 101, 300 & 303 series. which were made in Switzland. by a Company called Stellavox, I used to service the Fi-cords many years ago and still have some machines and a lots of parts, I'll do some digging for you and see what else I can come up with.

Best Regards

Dear Jose,
It still works fine, I also still have spares from days of repairing them.
Fi-Cord also brought out one just slightly smaller than a Uher, called a 202, which later became the 202A,
there was a third sizecalled a 1A which was between the two.
I was told by the importer that they were all made by Stellavox.
I'll show some more pics of the other two models later.

Best Regards
